Welcome to Pierre, South Dakota. I’m reporting with the Associated Press here for the next eight weeks, covering hearings of the 2012 legislative session. A coworker told me fewer than 14,000 people live here. Today I got to walk around despite the snow and had fun taking iPhone photos of the one main street.

I found myself at Pierre’s Walmart today since I was in dire need of groceries. I thought it would be nice to treat myself to a magazine, but when I found the options I really couldn’t find one of interest.
CLARIFICATION: This is NOT cropped. No magazines of different nature exist to the right or left of these. You either like your guns or you like to cook comfort food and make crafts. That’s it.

I report out of this stately building, the State Capitol. It’s quite a beauty, inside and out. Today, when I walked to the YMCA, I passed by and saw these guests spread out on the lawn. I don’t know what kind of feathered animals they are but they’re precious nonetheless.
